Inside the curious bag of free agent Justin Rose

As a recent agent with no equipment, Justin Rose has done his best to become one of the PGA TOUR's most active scouts.
He has no problem trying to get better with any club or shaft or new equipment.
For example, Rose has been using Cobra irons and a Titleist driver that expires in early 2024.
He switched to a Ping driver and Srixon irons for THE PLAYERS Championship in March, but his 2024 transformation didn't stop there.
Rose's season hasn't gone as planned, but when it mattered most, like at the PGA Championship and the Open Championship, he performed well, finishing tied for sixth at Valhalla and co-runner up at Royal Troon.
This season, he has finished in the top 20 outside of the Majors once (tied for 11th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am).
Rose recently switched to Titleist's new GT3 driver after using several different rods in 2024, joining a crowd of TOUR players who have made the same move.
He uses a B2 hosel when he plays his GT3, with normal loft and a straight lie angle of 0.75 degrees.
Rose wraps the end of his Project X HZRDUS shaft with duct tape. This contributes to a good “combination” of the group. Although adding lead tape to the end makes the club heavier, it reduces the swing weight, making the head seem a little lighter.
In addition to making the shaft appear less slippery during the swing, it can help golfers feel more connected to the club during the swing. Although it's not for everyone, intermediate players who haven't used a balanced driving machine may want to give it a try.
The former Major winner still plays with TaylorMade M6 fairway woods (15 and 21 degrees), which were introduced to the public in early 2016, although he now uses Titleist's new technology in his driver.
In some cases, it's better to be comfortable with your gear than to use newer models. For Rose, full control over his fairway woods is more important than maximum distance.
