3 Sabers Can Score 40 Goals in 2024-25 Season – Hockey Writers – Buffalo Sabers

September is right around the corner, and as the season approaches, Buffalo Sabers player predictions and predictions will begin to emerge. With all the uncertainty surrounding the team going into the 2024-25 season, looking at the players and seeing who has the skill and ability to put the puck in the back of the net is something that can really spark excitement.

The Sabers have plenty of talented young players with scoring ability, but they have only one left on their roster with a 40-goal season under his belt since acquiring Jeff Skinner. As they look to improve on their scoring from last season, they will need more contributions from a few others, and these three players in particular are their best chances for 40 pucks hitting the opposing twine.

Tage Thompson, Center

The low hanging fruit option here is easily Tage Thompson as he is the only Sabers player currently with a 40 or more goal season in his career, when he scored 47 back in the 2022-23 season. He can easily do it again as he is still considered to be their best center, and he will also see time on their power play front. He is undoubtedly a very talented goal scorer and versatile goal threat as he uses both his size and his hands to make plays towards the net, and sometimes hits at will. He had a down season in 2023-24 as he finished with 29 goals, but he fell victim to poor coaching decisions, and injury problems throughout, to get him back to at least the 40 mark. in 2024-25 is an expectation he can meet.

Tage Thompson Shows off his shooting

Thompson has one of the hardest shots in the league, some of the strongest soft hands, and can score from anywhere. Using his speed and size to work his way up the ice and crash into the net, or making his way to one spot to blast the puck past the goalie are just a few of the signature moves Thompson has shown he can reliably make. score goals. With new plans in place from head coach Lindy Ruff, there may be new scoring options added to his game this season as well. There is no doubt in my mind that Thompson can put at least 40 goals on the board this coming season.

Alex Tuch, Right Wing

Besides Thompson, Alex Tuch is the only other Sabers player to approach the 40-goal mark in his career, with 36 in the 2022-23 season. He is one of their most versatile players on the ice, and is another cornerstone of their top six, so he will have every opportunity to reach this milestone for the first time in his career. Using his speed as his main weapon, Tuch is dangerous up front and can create scoring opportunities in transition from both positions. Often times, he would steal the puck off an opposing player's stick and break the ice on his own offense and beat the opposing goalie with a nice, simple move, or use an opposing player in the end, and just rip. clear the net with a quick shot.

Alex Tuch, Buffalo Sabers (Amy Irvin / Hockey Writers)

He doesn't have a big slapshot, or a bunch of slick moves to move around a whole bunch of defenders, but his simple style of play is where his scoring shines. Last season he didn't start well but he still finished with 22 goals. As he adapts to a more physical system, and uses his size and speed more to his advantage, he will get more opportunities to score off the rush, and off the transition, so seeing him push for, or even hit the 40- goal is very possible.

Jack Quinn, Right Wing

The dark horse of this group, and certainly the most underrated is Jack Quinn. He's shown great progress so far in his career, and despite some injury battles, he's still shown to be an extremely talented goalscorer. A healthy Quinn, in my humble opinion, can be a lethal scorer, and if the Sabers are packing for this upcoming season, there are many signs pointing to him scoring 40 goals. He has the only natural looking shot on this team besides Thompson, and his release is smooth and fast. He has the vision to be anywhere on the offensive end and find an opening for the puck, and the versatility of how he can score is what adds to his lethality. He may not be as elite or in the top power play group as the other two on the roster, but ice time alone won't stop him from hitting 40 this season.

Highlights of Jack Quinn

Quinn has put in the time and work to be where he is, and with the highly motivated Dylan Cozens as his teammate, the two of them flying around the ice looking for ways to score together will be something to fear for all opponents. Quinn may not be the fastest player on the ice, but he still has more than enough speed to burn defenders and make his chances happen at any given moment. His career goals so far are 14, and last season he scored nine goals in 27 games, shooting 16.1% which would have put him on pace for 30 goals had he played the full season. It stands to reason that he would improve those stats with a better coach and a better program.

Which of the Three Will Score the Most Goals?

They all have outstanding scoring abilities, and this list doesn't care about players like J. With goalscoring talent still to come, it will be a race to see which of these players will be the first to score 40 goals as each is capable of doing so. The simple answer, however, is that Thompson will score at the end of the season, as he has shown that he is capable of pushing 50 points, it will be Quinn as I believe he will score 40 goals or so. above it at about 42, then Tuch at exactly the 40 mark.

Watching the puck return to the net will also be a breath of fresh air compared to the struggles of last season, but it will rest in the hands of these talented players. The new coaching staff will have to give them the right opportunities to succeed, but ultimately it is up to the players to really score goals. There is nothing standing in their way except them.
