Brittney Griner, who came out before the song, shows up to represent the USA

In 2020, Brittney Griner, who had asked the WNBA not to play the national anthem and walked out of court before it, spoke out amid racial unrest following the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

After being imprisoned in Russia for about 10 months in 2022, his opinion about “The Star-Spangled Banner” changed. At the Paris Olympics, Griner, wearing a gold medal, was emotional as the anthem played.

“I didn't think I would be here,” he said of the 2024 Paris Olympics, via Reuters.
