Man Utd's best and worst players in disappointing Community Shield defeat
Manchester United came agonizingly close to adding another trophy to their trophy cabinet at the expense of Manchester City on Saturday.
Alejandro Garnacho's strike put Erik ten Hag's side ahead in the Community Shield, Bernardo Silva struck late with City's first shot on target and sent the game to penalties, where Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans failed to convert.
Here are United's best and worst players according to them 90 minplayer ratings.
Alejandro Garnacho – 8/10
He may have only been on the pitch for 30 minutes, but Garnacho undoubtedly made his presence felt again.
A stunningly taken goal looked to have fired United into another win over City, who looked nervous at the back after being introduced.
Honorable mention
Mad Diallo – 7/10
The man who gave way to Garnacho, Amad Diallo spent his 60 minutes on the pitch causing serious problems for Josko Gvardiol.
Amad was involved in almost every positive from United, and the youngster cemented his new status as Erik ten Hag's favorite here.
Jonny Evans – 4/10
A late penalty miss capped a frustrating afternoon for Evans, who never looked settled in the United back line.
With Lisandro Martinez forced to play on the left due to United's ongoing injury problems, there was no escape from Evans, whose game contained many unforced errors.
Speaking of shame
Diogo Dalot – 5/10
Jeremy Doku completely dominated Diogo Dalot in the first half, tearing through United's right back at every turn.
On the day news of United's move for Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich was made public, this was not the game Dalot would have wanted.
