Real Madrid were rocked by midfield injuries ahead of the Super Cup clash with Atalanta

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out of Wednesday's Super Cup clash with Atalanta due to injury.

The French player was heard screaming on the ground following a collision with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni and had to limp into training on Tuesday after sustaining a knee injury.

Although he was able to leave the pitch at will, Camavinga's condition is still causing visible concern for Carlo Ancelotti and his staff and the 21-year-old was immediately sent for an injury assessment.

A full in-depth scan has yet to be performed, however, as first revealed Jose Luis Sanchezthe team doctors are already satisfied that Camavinga is not seriously injured.

However, considering Camavinga's injury happened 24 hours before the Super Cup final, AS note that Madrid have released a midfielder.

The important thing is that the injury to the other knee caused problems for Camavinga last season. Another training ground collision saw him sidelined for two months with ligament damage in one knee.

Camavinga was reportedly scheduled to start Wednesday's game but Ancelotti will not risk the 21-year-old and is reviewing his game plan.

Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham are both expected to start and should be joined by Tchouameni or Luka Modric.

Madrid fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of new striker Kylian Mbappe, but previous reports have suggested Ancelotti will remain loyal to the players who fueled last season's Champions League success.

Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are likely to start in attack, although it remains to be seen how Ancelotti will shape his squad in response to Camavinga's injury.
