in Russia Diana Schneider has come a long way since 2024 began. He has won three titles and climbed a bit up the WTA rankings. She was ranked 108 when she won the title in Hua Hin on February 4. Two more titles – and one top-level tennis later – she finds herself a card-carrying member of the Top-20.
Schneider, who has won titles at all three venues in 2024, moves into No. 20 in the WTA rankings on Tuesday. She reached the semifinals in Toronto, just a week after winning silver in Paris in women's doubles (with Mirra Andreeva).
Shnaider's jump from 24th to 20th is a milestone, but not nearly as big as Amanda Anisimova's 83rd jump from 132nd to 49th in this week's rankings. The 22-year-old, who lost to Jessica Pegula in the final on Monday in Toronto, has returned to the Top-50 for the first time since April 2023.
Anisimova Back in the Top-50, Townsend is knocking on the door
Anisimova took the second half of the season in 2023, starting 2024 well outside the Top-300. He is ranked 442 at this year's Australian Open.
Taylor Townsend was another high riser in this week's ratings. He jumped 18 spots to No. 53 on his career thanks to reaching the quarterfinals in Toronto.
