West Ham have completed the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Man Utd

West Ham United have confirmed the signing of defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United on a seven-year contract.

Wan-Bissaka leaves the Red Devils following a five-year stay at Old Trafford, where he played 190 games and won two trophies.

He has now joined West Ham to become their eighth signing of the summer, following Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez and Jean-Clair Todibo. Wan-Bissaka will take the number 29 shirt.

“It was a no-brainer for me to join West Ham – I'm happy and excited to be here,” said Wan-Bissaka.

“It's an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I'm excited for the future. I was born here, so I know the ins and outs of London, which plays a big role in my life, so to be back playing in this city means a lot to me.

“I am happy to be here, I appreciate the warm welcome, and I am happy to play for the Club and I will give everything.

“I can't wait to get on the field, get to know the players, and continue from there, seeing the team that is here united, that will push each other to win, and the team that has gotten the best of each other. ' it bounces back from the bad and the small, so being a part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you're surrounded by a good team.”

The Hammers are entering a new era under coach Julen Lopetegui, with technical director Tim Steidten leading the way in player transfers.

“I'm glad we were able to get an agreement to sign Aaron over the line,” Steidten said. “He is the type of player we are looking to attract to this club in the early years of his life.

“He's an incredibly talented defender who we rate highly – he's very good in one-on-one situations. He's also versatile, which is obviously a good one. He's played over 170 Premier League games in his time – he knows the inside-out split.

“I would like to personally thank the Board for their continued support in bringing players of this caliber to West Ham. It is a very exciting time for us as we prepare for the start of the new season this weekend.”

Wan-Bissaka's exit paves the way for Man Utd to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. His transfer, along with that of Matthijs de Ligt, is expected to go through later on Tuesday.

West Ham begin their Premier League campaign at home to Aston Villa on Saturday, while Man Utd begin their season on Friday night when Fulham travel to Old Trafford.
