Arsenal's move could have a major impact on West Ham's transfer plans
Arsenal's interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino could be bad news for West Ham United.
The Gunners are close to completing the signing of Euro 2024 Spain midfielder Merino after agreeing terms with the player.
Both clubs now have to agree on a fee that will not be a problem and Merino will be on his way to the Emirates Stadium soon.
However, that would mean Real Sociedad would target a West Ham United move.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers are interested in signing PSG midfielder Carlos Soler.
Romano told GiveMeSport:
“That (Soler) is a practical option for West Ham. It is true, he is one of the names they have on their short list. And now, obviously they will also need to explore all the possibilities and consider all the options. They played very well in the summer transfer window.”
West Ham's interest in the PSG midfielder is evident but so is Real Sociedad's interest as stated in the report.
After Merino left for Arsenal, Real Sociedad will make a move for Soler to replace Merino at the club.
Soler wants to leave the French capital after not being given enough playing time last season.
The former Valencia man is worth £17 million which will not be a problem for the Hammers.
They will have to beat La Liga side Real Sociedad to sign the Spaniard.
