Spurs eye latest bid for £50k-a-week replacement for Emerson after links
Tottenham could raise the bar at the “eleventh hour” of the summer to sign Emerson Royal's replacement, following the defender's confirmed transfer to AC Milan.
Emerson is leaving Spurs, three years after joining from Barcelona
The north Londoners said goodbye to Emerson earlier this week, after what looked like months of negotiations, as Ange Postecoglou's side and the Rossoneri agreed a £13 million deal for the Brazilian – including £2.5 million in add-ons.

The North Londoners are now in talks to re-sign Dominic Solanke.
The 25-year-old played for Spurs for over a century before joining Milan, scoring four goals and assisting two more in that time, racking up 12 yellow cards and playing 6,554 minutes in all competitions.
Emerson also filled in well for injured players in Postecoglou's first season, even playing in central defense at times when both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero were unavailable. However, the north Londoners were unable to secure a full-time right-back in the following campaign, with the former Barcelona man opting for a move to the San Siro.

The player bid an emotional farewell to Spurs supporters on Instagram, completing three years of service at N17, while Postecoglou only has Pedro Porro and Djed Spence with him next season as things stand.
With their involvement in the Europa League, and all the extra games that come with it, Spurs are believed to be in the market for a new defender who could provide another option for star player Pedro Porro.
Archie Gray could also feature as a right-back closer to his natural position in midfield, as he did on numerous occasions for Leeds in their run to the Championship play-off final last season.
However, Postecoglou may be planning to use the 18-year-old, meaning Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Monaco's Vanderson this week.
Tottenham could make an 11th-hour bid for Vanderson
GiveMeSport has its own update on Tottenham's interest in the Brazilian this week. They say there are doubts about Spence's ability to fill in for Porro behind the scenes, and Tottenham could make an eleventh-hour bid for Vanderson after being linked earlier in June.
Thought to cost around £50,000-a-week, as reported by GMS, the outlet believe £30 million would be enough to prize the South American away from Monaco.
““Vanderson hasn't changed recently, but he's still a young player,” said Rangers manager Philippe Clement in 2022.
“He had a different experience here [last season]. We have already talked about that. He is a player and continues to interest many big clubs. That would do something to the imagination, not that he didn't have his feet on the ground, but Vanderson is ambitious and likes perfection.
“Every day you want to be better than the last. That can give him a lot of pressure, a lot of pressure and all the desires he has. We need to handle that more about him. If I left him to do it, he would train 18 hours a day. He is like that. Sometimes we need a break physically and mentally and you are a young player who has to manage that. He will, because he has a good attitude.”
