Strengthens Ennis's Stubborn Determination to Stay 147
Jaron 'Boots' Ennis is determined to stay in the 147-lb division to become the undisputed welterweight champion and it doesn't seem to bother him that all the big fights are happening at 154.
It is possible that Boot Ennis could be a welterweight star fighting an unknown name because there is little chance that he will be beaten by anyone. However, it will take a long time for Boots to reach superstardom fighting obscure fights at welterweight because there are no superstars.
Crawford's Error, Repeated
Ennis and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, believe that not being stuck at welterweight will make him a star. That may not be the case. Terence Crawford earned that distinction at age 140, and he never became a star.
Crawford spent years focused on collecting four belts at 140, and he should have moved up to 147 much sooner than he did. Now, Ennis is making the same mistake. He derails his career with his wrong-headed idea that collecting all the belts at 147 will make him a star. It won't.
He didn't become a champion until he fought Errol Spence last year, and it wasn't without a title that was undoubtedly on the line for that fight. It was about Crawford fighting a fighter who was popular enough to make him a minor star.
In other words, Boot Ennis doesn't need to waste time and years of his career staying at 147 to achieve his goal of being uncontested. If he thinks doing that will make him a star, he is wrong.
“Open Pastures” for Welterweight
“It is possible that Haney is looking at 147 because he looks big as he is 140. He's talented there. You see it as a desert in the sense that it came from the big stars[ofthenameless”saidPaulieMalignaggieontheYouTubechannelandProBoxTVofJaron'Boots'Ennisandthebleakemptied-out147lbdivision[tono-names][yayakwabangenamagama”kushouPaulieMalignaggiesiteshinise-YouTubeiProBoxTVebekau-Jaron'Boots'Ennisomuhlekufipheleukuhlukaniswaokungu-147lbokungenalutho[tono-names”saidPaulieMalignaggitotheProBoxTVYouTubechannelputtingapositivespinonJaron‘Boots’Ennisstayingatthebleakemptied-out147lbdivision
Staying at 147 will cost Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs) a lot of money, and he may regret it later if he misses big fights in other weight classes, such as a clash with Terence Crawford.
“Let's have hope; Let's call it 'Open Pastures.' There's potential here to improve some things,' Malignaggi said of the lifeless, lifeless 147-lb division.”
Malignaggi's beautiful image of the welterweight division, which makes it look good, does not change its reality. Staying there a dead end to Boots Ennis and ruining his career.
Malignaggi appears as George's character from the novel Of mice and men, he sells Lennie Small a false image, telling him how things will be better one day. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
If Ennis doesn't feel up to the challenge of moving to 154 to face the killer sharks, he should stay and play it safe at 147 against smaller opponents. However, that does not say much about Boots Ennis.
