Christian Mbilli 167.4 Vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko 167.1 – Rate Saturday Results on ESPN
Super middleweight Christian Mbilli weighed in at 167.4 lbs, while his opponent Sergiy Derevyanchenko came in at 167.1 pounds at the weigh-in for their ten-round fight this Saturday, August 17, at the Videotron Center in Quebec City, Canada. The event will air live on ESPN and ESPN+ at 10:00 pm ET/7:00 pm PT.
Billi (27-0, 23 KOs) is ranked #1 in the WBC at 168 and is being touted by Top Rank as a future world champion. Derevyanchenko (15-5, 10 KOs) could return himself and Top Rank to the world on Saturday night by facing Billi, 29, his first career loss.
Despite being pushed by Mbilli, this is a 50-50 fight, and he might lose. That will put his promoters in a position to decide what to do next with him. Billi is about to turn 30, and at her age, you either have it or you don't. You won't see much improvement.
If the idea is to keep Mbilli around long enough to get him a cash-out fight with Canelo Alvarez, it might be worth hanging on to him if he's in top form, but not if he loses to Derevyanchenko on Saturday night. He will never get that fight against Canelo if he is beaten because it will take him a long time to rebuild.

“I think I'm as small as Mike Tyson. My style is aggressive,” said Christian Mbilli playing Top Rank Boxing. “I think I'm an amazing boxer. My surprise hit was with Nadjib Mohammedi. When I took him out, I wasn't sure if he would wake up.”
At 5'8 1/2″, Mbilli is short in the super middleweight division, and doesn't have the skills or one-punch power to be anything like a Mike Tyson-type fighter. Although Canelo Alvarez has the same height, he was technically superior, a counter-attacker, and had a superior chin.
“When I take someone out, I feel very happy, but after that, I hope that everything will go well without any problem and no accident. When people call me the next super middleweight champion, I'm happy. It's an honor for me and a lot of pressure, too. I will work hard to make it happen,” Mbilli said about wanting to fulfill the praise.
“MBilli has a great talent. I saw things that were Tyson-esque,” said analyst Mark Kriegel on ESPN's State of Boxing.
“MBilli fights every battle as if it is his last battle. You could see the intensity he put into the ring. He is looking to hurt his opponents,” said Tim Bradley.
