Gennadiy Golovkin Vs. Terence Crawford: Rumored Saudi War In 2025
Gennadiy Golovkin has reportedly been offered a fight with Terence Crawford in Saudi Arabia in 2025. If Honorable Turki Alalshikh puts it down, it would be a great fight, as it would give Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) a fight. a chance to prove himself against the striking Golovkin at 160 or 168 in preparation for a clash with Canelo Alvarez in 2025.
Sales Fight
If the rumors prove to be accurate, Golovkin vs. Crawford will sell on PPV and appeal to many boxing fans. If Crawford is going to fight Canelo, what better way to prepare than to face his former foe, Golokvkin? Most would agree that Golovkin deserved to win his first two fights against Canelo in 2017 and 2018.
Golovkin will need to cut weight to get in shape, but that shouldn't be a problem as he can easily do so as early as 2025 to face Crawford in a proper fight to prepare the Nebraska native for his upcoming fight with Canelo.
“Some reports that Gennadiy Golovkin has been given the opportunity to fight Terence Crawford in Saudi Arabia,” reported Boxraw.
Golovkin, 42, a former United middleweight champion (42-2, 37 KOs), has not fought since losing to Canelo in twelve rounds in 2022. Even in that loss, Golovkin came close to winning and would have lost. Canelo if he starts pressuring him early.
Golovkin's Awesome Skills
As offensive as he was, Golovkin didn't look good in that fight; he looked 24k gold against WBA middleweight champion Ryota Murata in his previous match in April 2022, which was just two years ago.
We saw how Crawford struggled'Little GGG' Israil Madrimov on August 3, winning what many felt was a controversial twelve-round decision. If it was Golovkin in the ring with Crawford, he would have fought hard, attacked him relentlessly with powerful shots to the head and body, wearing down the 37-year-old.
Now, fans can see how Crawford will hold up under the real thing, Golovkin, who will be coming forward offensively in a very different way than Madrimov. If Crawford can get past Golovkin, he'll be ready to move on to Canelo, but he may get there.
I can see Golovkin winning this fight. If he wins, we are looking at a fourth fight between him and Canelo. That would be great for His Excellency Turki to include in one of his Riyadh Season events.
