France's David Ravetto claims first Czech Masters win – Golf News

Frenchman David Ravetto claimed his first DP World Tour title in style when he shot a final round 64 at the D+D REAL Czech Masters.

The 27-year-old entered the final day trailing Sweden's Jesper Svensson but left him behind as he posted an 8-under-par closing round to win at 24-under at the PGA National OAKS Prague, with the Swede tied for second on 19-under.

Ravetto made his intentions clear from the tee, birdieing the opening hole before adding further advantages in the third and fourth. The 27-year-old added three more before the turn, taking shots at the sixth, eighth and ninth to post a six-under nine and clear three strokes.

The Qualifying School graduate, ranked No. 371 coming into the event, dropped his only shot of the day on the 12th, but birdied the next, as Singapore Classic winner Svensson piled on the pressure. with his birdies on 10, 13 and 15 to go between one and three to play.

The par-five 16th proved crucial, however, as Svensson hit a tee shot aloft and ended up making a double bogey, and playing partner Ravetto took full advantage by carding another birdie that resulted in a three-shot turn and a four-stroke lead.

The Frenchman cruised safely through the final two holes to secure an emotional DP World Tour title as his countrymen celebrated on the 18th green.

Two other Frenchmen, Frederic Lacroix and Adrien Saddier, shared third place in the Czech Republic, with Richie Ramsay of Scotland on 18 under par, two strokes ahead of Bernd Wiesberger of Austria and Alex Fitzpatrick, Brandon Robinson-Thompson and Paul Waring in the match tie the sixth.

Andrew Johnston, who was tied for third going into the final round, closed with a disappointing 73 to tie for 23rd place. The 35-year-old Londoner, who is set to return this season following a long injury lay-off, enjoyed his best finish on the DP World Tour since the Mallorcan Open in October 2021.
