Crystal Palace are now eyeing a £17.6m ace to replace Guehi
Crystal Palace have become the latest name in their hunt for defensive reinforcements if Marc Guehi leaves this summer, it is claimed.
Speculation surrounding the Crystal Palace backline
Crystal Palace and Oliver Glasner enter the final 11 days of the transfer window uncertain whether any of their first-choice defenders will be at the club when the window closes.
Both Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen started their Premier League opener against Brentford, with Eberechi Eze having a controversial goal as the Eagles lost 2-1 through Yoane Wissa.
But both are Premier League titles. Andersen has been targeted by former club Fulham, with Marco Silva's side presenting a £20m bid to sign him this summer, although that has been rejected and Palace are understood to be worth closer to £40m.

Perhaps of further concern is Newcastle's interest in left-back Marc Guehi, who played at EURO 2024 and has been the subject of four Magpies bids. Last week, the Palace chairman, Steve Parish, suggested that there was no one who matched the defender's price, but recently admitted that Guehi could leave if the right offer came in.
“I said it last week, Marc is a great player and we are a club that has to accept where we are at the moment. We are not a place, we are in a place where you are passing through and if we get the right bids for the players, in the right way, we have to look at them now, if we get that it will change, but right now Marc is a Palace player.
Should he leave, Palace will need some late reinforcements, and now there is a new name to fill the England international's place.
The palace is looking to raid London's rivals
That comes as TEAMtalk claim Palace have made contact with London rivals Arsenal over a potential move to bring defender Jakub Kiwior to Selhurst Park in the final days of the transfer window.
Kiwior was left out of the matchday squad for Arsenal's opening game against Wolves, and the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori has left him much needed in north London.
And Palace have “contacted Arsenal to inquire about Kiwior's availability”, the report said, while “Oliver Glasner's side could consider moving for Kiwior” instead of other targets.
Despite not being the first name on Mikel Arteta's team sheet, Kiwior made 30 appearances for the Gunners last year, grabbing a goal and three assists in the process and managed 90 more tackles than Guehi throughout the campaign.

Hailed as an “extraordinary” talent by fellow Polish player Robert Lewandowski, he is wanted by a string of clubs across Europe: “During the warm-up against the Netherlands, I thought, 'Who is this guy?' Then, during the game, I realized he's amazing.”
Having signed Kiwior for £17.6m eighteen months ago, Arsenal are unlikely to want to sell for anything less as the 24-year-old has four years to run on his £58,000-a-week deal, although a loan move could be attractive. there probably shouldn't be anyone matching their asking price.
