Nottingham Forest make €25m bid for Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez
Nottingham Forest have made a €25 million bid for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, according to reports.
Forest opened their Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth and are believed to be keen to add to their attack before the window closes.
The club already have Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi as strikers but it seems that Gimenez is the player they are looking for.
Forest make a €25m bid for Gimenez
It was reported overnight that Forest had a €25m bid rejected for the Mexico international, short of Feyenoord's figure.
Gimenez played under current Liverpool manager Arne Slot for the Dutch side and scored 23 league goals as they finished second to champions PSV Eindhoven.
The Mexican is a top performer in the Champions League and was linked with a move to Tottenham at the start of the window.
Fabrizio Romano said the bid was not enough to tempt Feyenoord to sell and talks are ongoing between the clubs.
He logged onto X.com and said:
Nottingham Forest presented the first proposal of Santiago Giménez, as @FOXSportsMX reported overnight. An offer worth more than €25m but not enough for Feyenoord to accept as they want more. Negotiations are ongoing.”

Athletic added that Forest are considering making another bid for the 23-year-old, with the striker high on their target list, but a deal could be difficult given the gap in valuations between the two clubs.
If Forest were able to complete Gimenez's deal, it would be a blow to the ground as he has played in the Champions League and with great respect for Forest, it is perhaps surprising that no European football clubs have appeared to come up with a striker.
While Awoniyi has been good he has had a number of injury problems, and Wood is not a prolific goalscorer, although he has scored 12 Premier League goals in 17 Premier League games under Nuno, so you can understand why Forest might be checking. their options.
