Regis Prograis says he or Jack Catterall will be the first super-lightweight
REGIS PROGRAIS believes he will return to the top 140lbs after his fight with Jack Catterall.
The two were scheduled to meet this weekend at Co-op Live in Manchester but Catterll's injury postponed their fight until October 26 at the same venue.
Prograis will be looking to show that his one-sided loss to Devin Haney last December was one game and he can return to his form against Catterall. Taylor three months ago.
The current state of super-lightweight leaves it open to debate as to who dominates the division. Haney and Teofimo Lopez have a strong case and new champions Liam Paro and Jose Valenzuela will believe that they should also be considered to defeat former champions Subriel Matias and Isaac Cruz.
Talking to Debate News Prograis says that it is not surprising that there is currently no one outstanding person in this category.
“Boxing is like that. “Boxing is like the stock market, you never know what's going to hit,” he said. ” And for me that is why this fight [against Catterall] it is important. You have two top level guys fighting each other. I feel like this will clarify who it is that boy in the section. I really do. This will determine that person.
“Teo, you can say but you don't know because you look like s**t. He didn't look good. I was [number one] but Haney beat me then Ryan [Garcia] hit Haney. Everyone was saying Mattias and Paro beat Mattias and then “Pitbull” [Cruz] and you just lost.
“There's not really that guy in the category so after this fight I think it's going to be that guy and it's going to be me again. I have already done it. I've been a guy twice so it resonates with me.”
