Predators GM expects Yaroslav Askorov to compete for spot, agent has no comment
Emma Lingan: Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz: “We are aware of the report today and our expectation is for the player to report to training camp and compete for work in September.”
Michael Gallagher: Dan Milstein, Askarov said “no comment” when asked about the trade request.

Michael Gallagher: You've been told to keep an eye on the Carolina Hurricanes and San Jose Sharks when it comes to Askarov.
Cam Robinson: The Chicago Blackhawks should be everywhere to get Yaroslav Askarov. “You have a young goalkeeper, who may be at a high level to grow with his young core. And they have the pieces/caps in the works to make a meaningful contribution.”
Montreal Hockey Now: There may have been a time when it would have made sense for the Montreal Canadiens to be interested in Askarov but focusing on finding a goaltender is not one of their issues.

Dan Kingerski: The Pittsburgh Penguins won't be interested in Askarov and won't want to spend the assets needed to land him and have two goaltenders close to being NHL-ready in Joel Blomqvist and Sergey Murashov.
Charlie O'Connor: It would be a surprise if the Philadelphia Flyers go after Askarov. The Flyers' season seems set with Sam Ersson and Ivan Fedotov and Askarov looking for an NHL roster spot.

Robby Stanley: (Stanley's take on the situation): “This is not surprising at all. The Predators made a choice when they gave Saros a new contract. Was it disappointing? #Preds that he's already asking for a trade and threatening not to report to Milwaukee? Of course. But it's clear that he wants to continue.”
Robby Stanley: Since the Predators signed Scott Wedgewood at the start of free agency to a two-year deal for $1.5 million, Askarov wasn't knocking Wedgewood into the backup position regardless of what might be said.
Michael Amato: “One thing I don't get about Askarov's situation is why didn't NSH encourage him this year to go with Saros instead of signing Wedgewood? Give him 35 games and make Saros' job easier. Build Askarov a few years after Saros and move him for another return. “
