Erik ten Hag admits he may “need” Jadon Sancho for the 2024/25 campaign

The manager of Man United, Erik ten Hag, has admitted that he may need Jadon Sancho for the whole season, but he points out that the player who has won will play only in exchange.

The 24-year-old returned to the Manchester club this summer after spending the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Borussia Dortmund who clashed with Ten Hag earlier in the season.

The pair were formed during pre-season with the Dutch coach giving Sancho a chance to prove himself during the Premier League tour of the United States.

However, the 24-year-old was left out of Man United's pre-season opener against Fulham last Friday with Ten Hag citing an ear problem as the reason for his absence.

Speaking ahead of the Manchester club's next game against Brighton on Saturday, the Dutch coach admitted that he may need Sancho for the rest of the season, although the 54-year-old revealed that the Englishman will only be a replacement player.

“You can't choose all the players but you need them for the whole season,” said the Man United coach about defender Fabrizio Romano.

“The attitude of the players is very important. Sometimes they will be disappointed, they have to face it.”

Will Jadon Sancho stay at Man United for the 2024/25 campaign?

Man United's Jadon Sancho wants to join PSG before the transfer window closes

Sancho will not be content with a changing role at Man United this season and reports from France claim the winger is open to joining PSG this summer.

According to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, the 24-year-old wants to join the Ligue 1 champions before deadline day, but talks have not progressed despite the French giants showing interest. The deal will not happen as Man United is said to be looking for around £51m to buy the Englishman and no team will pay for the defender after what he has shown in recent years.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Sancho over the next few days as the future of the Man United talent is uncertain.
