Chelsea have signed French striker Louna Ribadeira, who is set to return to Paris FC on loan next season.
The 20-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the West London club but will spend the 2024/25 campaign at Paris FC, where he made 24 appearances and scored eight goals last season to help the club finish third. place behind Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon.
Ribadeira was recognized for her performances and was named Division 1's Young Female Player of the Year. She has already featured in over 60 senior club matches and made her first appearance for France's national team in their 2-1 win over England in May.
Before making the jump to the senior squad, the centre-forward found great success at youth level. He reached the final of the Under-17 Euros before reaching the semi-finals of the Under-19 tournament in 2023, where he was top scorer and named player of the year.
Speaking about his arrival, Ribadeira described Chelsea as “one of the best teams in the world”. He explained: “I will continue my development in Paris for now and join Chelsea with more experience and more development as a player.”
Ribadeira impressed with his finishing inside the area, while his attacking qualities also stood out when he linked play in the final third.
General manager Paul Green added: “Louna has shown great promise throughout his career and we believe his natural finishing will be a real asset to the club in the future. We look forward to welcoming him back to the Chelsea family after his continued development back at Paris FC next season, where he has won during the regular game.”
Ribadeira is not the first young player Chelsea have signed or kept this summer and plan to loan. Greta Humphries, Jorja Fox, Ashanti Akpan and Aimee Claypole will all see out the upcoming campaign at other clubs, underscoring Chelsea's importance in nurturing and developing members of their future squad.
