£120,000-a-week Tottenham player “certain” to leave; Levy wants to invest

Having already shown the door to the likes of Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, Tottenham Hotspur will once again be ruthless, showing another player the door.

For a long time, it looked like Spurs were determined to go into the new season without replacing Harry Kane in the second campaign in a row, but the arrival of Dominic Solanke quickly eased those fears.

The former Liverpool striker arrived from Bournemouth in a £65m deal earlier this month. The Lilywhites will have to wait a little longer for his first home appearance, however, after picking up an injury during Spurs' 1-1 draw with Leicester to open their season.

At least they could watch new signing Wilson Odobert make his Premier League debut for the club, not long after arriving from the Championship at Burnley.

The same cannot be said for another defender who says his time at the club looks set to end next week. According to Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke, Sergio Reguilon is “certain” to leave Spurs this month, as Daniel Levy looks to cash in on the offspring of European giants Barcelona.

In the final year of his contract, where the Spaniard earns £120,000-a-week, Barcelona are reportedly looking for a lower price to sign the defender.

It has to be said that an exit would suit all parties, with Reguilon's loan spells at Manchester United and Brentford last season showing that Ange Postecoglou sees no place for the former Real Madrid man in his side.

After cashing in on Reguilon, the Lilywhites could use the proceeds from his departure to sign AS Monaco's Vanderson, who they have been linked with in recent weeks.

For a reported £120k-a-week, Spurs are ready to show Reguilon the door this summer if he is not in Postecoglou's plans. Skipp, Emerson Royal and Hojberg have all faced this fate and now the defender looks set to join them in continuing to fire the Lilywhites in the summer.

Those previous exits paved the way for Solanke's boys, Archie Gray and Odobert, who represent Spurs' sustainable business model, and Reguilon's departure will likely make way for more new faces. In the final week of the summer transfer window, those in north London could still be in for a busy few days.

Above all, Postecoglou will want to ensure his side secure their first win of the Premier League campaign when Everton travel to north London looking to complete the same goal.

Without Solanke this weekend and possibly Reguilon permanently, the Lilywhites have the first chance to prove any doubters wrong about the depth of their squad. However, he is being bullied, and any rustiness shown against Leicester City will look like a weakness for Spurs.
