Mourinho loves the pound more than himself, says Collymore

Ever since he walked into Stamford Bridge and declared himself 'The Special One,' Jose Mourinho has been in the box.
He may not be to everyone's taste, but he certainly makes headlines wherever he goes, and there is no negative publicity in Portuguese society.
His most recent stop is the Turkish Super Lig and two years at Fenerbahce, which is a surprising turnaround given the level at which Mourinho chooses to operate, respectfully.
Mourinho taking the money says Collymore
Perhaps it shows that he is becoming the man of yesterday, although Stan Collymore believes there is an entirely different reason for the move.
“Jose Mourinho is very smart. What he does is that as his management skills diminish, his mouth works overtime. We know about the 'Special One' that he has them, but he was winning big trophies with big teams at the time,” he told CaughtOffside in his special column.
“Let's not beat around the bush, he likes a pound. He's being paid €21m over two years by Fenerbahce, so he's not going anywhere but top, top, top dollar. He looks at the deals he signed with Roma and Fenerbahce with great respect, and they are nowhere near the Champions League. They are nowhere near the Europa League.
“If you are the chairman and you see Mourinho coming out on Sky Sports or any TV station in Europe to tell you how good he is, just say 'Brilliant. We'll get him,' and fans will be lining the streets.
“The way to judge him is when he left your club and he left Manchester United and Tottenham very badly, in my opinion. Of course, the commentators now say he was right about United but Mourinho left the dressing room broken. At Tottenham, he did nothing. The ball was turgid.
“Watch this space Fenerbahce fans. You all start to get angry and very happy, but let's see, in two years, if your thoughts and memories of Jose Mourinho are the same as when he shook the shirt and kissed the badge.”
It's hard not to agree with Collymore's sentiments. After all, Mourinho never backs down when it comes to coming forward.
He seems to have lost that Midas Touch, or it has abandoned him for now.
If he were to succeed at the Turkish giants, there is a real glass half full/glass empty.
Winning the title is an obvious merit, but it's hard to get excited when you only have one challenger for that title – Galatasaray.
For example, in the 2023/24 campaign, it was Galatasaray who won the Super Lig on the last day and had a total of 102 points. Fenerbahce finished second in 99.
In third place, Trabzonspor was behind with 32 points out of 67. To put that into perspective, in the 20-team league, Pendikspor, who were in 19th place, were 30 points behind Trabzonspor.
Effectively, Mourinho only needs to beat his biggest rivals and have no unexpected slip ups, and the title will be his.
