Adam Scott switched to Miura KM-700 irons for the FedEx St. Jude Classic, the first leg of the 2024 FedExCup Playoffs in Memphis, but the revolution was short-lived.
These irons are designed to provide greater bounce than Scott's standard irons.
He figured that on TPC Southwind's sticky Zoysia grass, one big jump design would improve his turf contact.
But Scott was ranked 53rd out of 70 players in Strokes Gained: Approach, even though he finished a solid T18 for the week.
He wanted to return to what was already a success, the Miura AS-1 prototype blade with a wide sole, low bounce that he used to finish second at the Genesis Scottish Open earlier this summer and T10 at The Open Championship, after his disappointing performance against the KM-700 blades. .
So Scott is returning to the machine that served him so well in Scotland when he took part in the BMW Championship.
Bentgrass and Poa Annua are mixed to create the tee boxes and fairways at Castle Pines Golf Club, while fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass do the wrong.
But Scott was determined to return to his trusty instrument no matter what the grass.
It is interesting to note that Muirfield Village Golf Club, another Jack Nicklaus creation, and Castle Pines share the same type of grass.
Scott enjoyed his first outing with the Miura AS-1 at the Workday 2022 Memorial Tournament sponsored by Muirfield Village.
Now it looks like he wants to come full circle in his pursuit of excellence in the short game.

He also made another unusual change as he tries to improve his handling of the high ground at this week's BMW Championship in Colorado.
