Norman Jr. Still looking for Ennis Unification Bout
Brian Norman Jr., who is the WBO welterweight champion, is still hoping for another unification fight between him and IBF champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis.
Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KOs) says he wants this fight and doesn't know why Boots Ennis's team says they never received a counter offer. He says that Boots' father, Dereck 'Bozy' Ennis, told him that they wanted to save the fight between them so that there would be no conflict. In other words, he wants to save it for last after Boot has collected the other two belts.
Hearn's Push for the Fight
The promoter of the boots, Eddie Hearn, wants a fight between them now, and he needs it to continue his fighter's career. Despite the Norman merger, Boots will be stuck defending her IBF champion Karen Chukhadzhian.
“His fists were very strong. I'm going to call it strong then. His fists were very strong. They won't just avoid you. They will growl something. I will say Tank. He had more power,” said Brian Norman on the Cigar Talk YouTube channel about Gervonta 'Tank' Davis' punches being harder than Jaron 'Boots' Ennis during their breaks.
Norman Jr. he says the feud with Gervonta and Boot Ennis happened three years ago. As it used to be, you can't take much of it. Did Boot upload his shots during the meeting like Tank did? There is no way to know that.
“It's the way it should go. Sparring is like fighting. He's not just a winner or a loser at times,” said Norman Jr., about whether Tank Davis was throwing hard when he broke up with him.
Norman Jr.'s War Predictions
“I feel like there will be a fight because he likes to throw a lot of punches, and I like to throw a lot of punches. I think it will be there in the pocket,” said Norman Jr. when asked how the battle between him and Boot Ennis is playing out.
Norman is right that the fight between him and Boots is likely to play out because both boys are used to fighting. Ennis doesn't let Norman tag him with a gun like his last opponent, Giovani Santillan did in May.
“That's the only way I can win. Not even the judges are on my side,” Norman Jr said when asked if he believed he could stop Boot Ennis. “I'm not signing a 12-round contract. I'm signing a contract for the knockout because I know I'm going to lose on those cards.”
The fight between them will probably not go to the scorecards. This is how these guys fight, and there will be a lot of fans who will watch it live, which will make both of them throw with great power.
