Manchester United have now lost five of their last six Premier League meetings with Brighton & Hove Albion thanks to unmarked Joao Pedro scoring in the 95th minute at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
There was no shame in the idea of being beaten, as happened to Ralf Rangnick who apologized to the Red Devils two years ago – the result that started this game of bogey. But United lacked momentum, failing to build on their win over Fulham last Friday night.
Ironically, two offside goals meant they had a chance to win this one, but the defense to stop the headless chicken, despite strengthening the back line in the summer, was costly.
The first talking points centered on Erik ten Hag's inconsistent side that started at Fulham eight days ago: no Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee in the XI.
