NHL rumors: Linus Ullmark, Tyson Barrie, and the stars
Linus Ullmark Jumps Home for Hire
Steve Warne of Hockey News: The former Boston Bruins goaltender reportedly bought a house in Ottawa recently. However, it is unclear whether Linus Ullmark's development will lead to a contract extension.
So while some media expressed hope. And, just like that. Being positive. Ullmark leaves negotiations to his agent. In terms of housing, the most obvious is how challenging it has been to find rental homes in Ottawa and the suburbs for that matter given the market.
Either way, Ullmark enters this season as the starting goaltender for the Ottawa Senators.
NHL Rumors: Vancouver Question Mark!
The Dallas Stars are a Problem Child of sorts
Adam Proteau of Hockey News: Okay, young players being key factors in a team's rise is always a good thing. Inevitably, they will have to see their salary increase, however.
Logan Stankoven and Wyatt Johnston will see their roles expand from here. Matty Beniers' contract only helps their goal a little. Beniers signed a seven-year contract worth $50 million.
The next inevitable question is how Jim Nlll will deal with their entry-level contracts when they expire. All three were drafted in the 2021 NHL Draft. One big difference is the conch of the discussion. Nill holds all the power here. Johnston enjoyed a sophomore season unlike Beniers (32 goals and 33 assists).
Well, right now Nill has some wiggle room. However, big players like Jake Oettinger, Mason Marchment, and Jason Robertson can keep these deals in the bridge zone.
Finally, how much will the salary cap go up? Do we see a general increase of a few million over the next few seasons. That may play a role as well.
The Edmonton Oilers and Tyson Barrie
Kurt Levins of the Edmonton Journal: Now, the Edmonton Oilers still need an inexpensive defenseman. The talk seems to focus on the old and affordable Tyson Barrie. Barrie is 33 years old but won't need a big payday. They can be delivered in a price contract.
It appears that Stan Bowman and company are weighing all their options. There is this idea that the PTO could hang on to Barrie and other potential targets. Think of it as a price interview to top Edmonton.
NHL Rumors: Back to Edmonton's defensive woes?
Again, this seems to be about the waiting game. Does Edmonton need a right-handed shooting guard that badly?
