Chelsea have given Romelu Lukaku permission to visit Napoli for a test
Antonio Conte is set to reunite with Romelu Lukaku at Napoli as Chelsea have given the striker permission to travel to Italy to complete his tests and sign his contract with the Serie A club.
The Belgian joins Napoli as part of a €30 million plus add-ons deal and will sign a contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona until 2027.
The transfer is very close to being official as all the documents are ready to be signed and according to Fabrizio Romano, Lukaku has been given permission by Chelsea to travel to Italy to undergo tests and sign his Napoli contract.
Lukaku will finally be free to leave Stamford Bridge permanently having spent the last two seasons on loan with Inter Milan and Roma.
The 31-year-old will be eager to reunite with Conte in Naples as the former Chelsea boss brought out the best in the Belgium international during his time at Inter. The 2020/21 season saw Lukaku score 30 goals and assist a further 10 in 44 games for the Serie A giants as the former Man United star fired his side to the Italian title.
What will bring Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku to Napoli?
Although Lukaku has worked well with Conte in the past, it does not mean that the pair will succeed again in Naples. The Belgian star has declined since their time at Inter and the Chelsea ace has big shoes to fill if Victor Osimhen leaves Napoli in the final week of the transfer window.
Fans of the Italian club are hoping that Lukaku will at least bring in the goals and it is something the 31-year-old has excelled at, especially in Serie A in recent seasons.
The transfer is good for everyone involved and could be the best deal for Napoli, if Conte helps Lukaku regain his form for 2020/21.
