Brentford accept Ivan Toney's offer as personal terms agreed
Brentford have accepted an offer from Al Ahli for striker Ivan Toney, who has agreed personal terms with the Saudi Arabian club.
Toney, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract, has not played for Brentford this season due to the uncertainty surrounding the sale.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are other clubs said to be interested in Toney but, as first revealed by L'Equipe and later supported by many shops, it is Al Ahli who made a deal to sign the 28-year-old player.
Al Ahli have agreed a fee of €42m (£35.3m) with Brentford and have quickly made a personal deal with Toney, who is expected to undergo a medical.
Interestingly, Al Ahli have also agreed both financial and personal terms to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has yet to give his consent for a move as he awaits an improved offer from other Chelsea players.
Chelsea have been linked with Toney as a possible option for Osimhen, and could turn to the England international if Nigeria head to the Middle East – Fabrizio Romano reports that only one player will be signed by Al Ahli.
This is because the big Saudi players have room to register another foreign player in their team. Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, Roger Ibanez, Franck Kessie, Edouard Mendy, Gabri Veiga and Merih Demiral take up seven of the eight available places, while summer signing Alexsander is included as one of two additional under-21 foreign players.
To sign both Osimhen and Toney, Al Ahli will have to release one of their current crop of overseas talents.
