Steven Stamkos or Jake Guenztel
Which Player Will Have a Better Season: Steven Stamkos or Jake Guentzel?
Steven Stamkos and Jake Guentzel will be linked forever. The Tampa Bay Lightning traded away Stamkos and signed Guentzel to a seven-year contract. Stamkos signed a four-year contract with the Nashville Predators.
The relationship between Tampa Bay and Steven Stamkos broke down last summer
Over the next few seasons, the Predators and Lightning, along with these two players, will be compared. Once again, the Lightning opted to move away from Stamkos and replace Guentzel. We will see if it was the right decision.
Entering the season, the Lightning will expect to see Guentzel replace Stamkos' production, while the Predators hope that Stamkos has another season or two as he did in Tampa to lead them to the Stanley Cup.
Last season Stamkos had 81 points (40 goals and 41 assists), and Guentzel had 77 points (30 goals and 47 assists) for the Penguins and Hurricanes before entering the market and signing with the Lightning.

Sarah Davis: And let's end with a head-to-head question here. The Lightning moved on from Steven Stamkos, because they prioritized signing Jake Guentzel. That's right, you just said, interestingly enough, they have the same over/under on FanDuel for four and a half times. Who has the better season?
Frankie Corrado: “I want to say Steven Stamkos. I'm going to say Steven Stamkos, and it has to be close. But over the past three years, Stamkos has scored at a much better clip. He had two 40-goal seasons in his last three seasons. He will now go to the Nashville Predators team that will improve offensively. There will be a lot of puke going to him. Of course, he won't have Nikita Kucherov. Jake Guentzel will be with Nikita Kucherov, but it feels like Steven Stamkos has a lot to prove going to the Nashville Predators, and he's scored a lot of goals since he's been healthy the last three years.”
Could the Tampa Bay Lightning Be the Amazing Team This Season?
Davis: “Your life is your treasure, right? OK? It's going to be an interesting few months, Frankie, when we can see how this all plays out. Now, of course, we have Mike Johnson, who we call “Mystic Mike” and he definitely hits it. Sometimes we have to find a nickname for you. Frankie Corrado. All the wheels are turning. Thank you for this.”
These two players will be closely watched to see which team performs better but also who has the better season in terms of production.
