Jamie Hersch: “Yes, and earlier this summer, another goaltender was on the way north of the border as the Flames sent Jacob Markstrom East. The Flames have been very busy so far under GM Craig Conroy, the last few seasons.
Do you have any updates on their plans for the rest of the season?”
Pagnotta: “Craig Conroy's phone lines are wide open. His office door is open. If you want to send him a fax, if you still want to do that, do it. He is willing to listen.
Can Sidney Crosby Have Another 40-Goal Campaign?
They have Nazem Kadri they are willing to trade. Now, Naz has no immobility clause. My understanding is that he would, he would be willing to go east a bit. Not exactly back home in Toronto, but somewhere in that area.
In addition to him, Rasmus Andersson, they are willing to take calls from Andersson. He still has one year left on his contract. He has some no-trade protection, but there is some belief within the Flames, and within the National Hockey League, that this could be his last season as a Calgary Flame. That the Flames will look hard to move him this season, if nothing is done over the summer.
MacKenzie Weegar generated some interest over the summer as well. I believe St. Louis, before they went the Philip Broberg way, were kicking the tires on that. I know during the draft there were some discussions. But Calgary is willing to listen to Weegar as well.
So now, Calgary is open. They illicitly entertain the entire thought process of full reconstruction. They haven't officially gone that way, but if they're willing to listen to Kadri and Andersson and Weegar and (Jonathan) Huberdeau, you have to think that rebuilding period isn't that far away.
So we'll always look at that for sure, and everybody should, if the Calgary Flames are open for business, if they get the right packages in place. “

Hersch: “Yes, it is very interesting. And they did some big blockbuster deals even last season, or last summer I should say, so it's definitely worth a look. “
