Pundit says Tottenham have an “exciting” striker set for game time

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been tipped to unleash an “exciting” youngster this season, particularly in the Europa League, with the north Londoners looking ahead to a long and busy calendar of fixtures.

The transfer window is closing as Spurs prepare for the trip to Newcastle

The summer transfer window has officially closed, and no new arrivals will come through the door until January, so Postecoglou will have to deal with his current crop of players as he aims to compete for a quartet of fronts.

Tottenham will be aiming for a place in the top four and Champions League qualification, while Postecoglou will also have his eyes on securing the club's first piece of silverware since 2008.

To boost the north Londoners' chances of a successful 2024/25 campaign, chairman Daniel Levy has managed to get several summer deals over the line ahead of the transfer window deadline of 11pm on Friday night.

Tottenham have signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for around £60 million, while Timo Werner has extended his loan at the club until the end of the season. Alongside Werner and Solanke, both English sensation Archie Gray and young winger Wilson Odobert finished in the N17, both men carrying a good reputation.

Solanke unfortunately injured his ankle during their visit to Leicester City on the opening weekend, so will miss Spurs' trip to Newcastle United on Sunday.

“Dom is close but we will keep a little watch on him, we have a big schedule after the international break, so he will miss Sunday,” said Postecoglou in the news of the Tottenham team of Newcastle.

“The only one we got during the week was Richarlison, unfortunately he picked up an injury in training, so he will probably miss the next few weeks.

“Rodrigo is fine, he passed all the procedures we need, and the most important thing is that he feels good and the medical team is really comfortable with his presence on Sunday.”

Tottenham have revealed they will offload Wilson Odobert for “many” minutes

While Solanke is still recovering, it is not clear whether Postecoglou will let fellow summer player Odobert go to St. James' Park.

Pundit John Wenham, speaking to Tottenham News, told Odobert that he got more “minutes” at Tottenham this season, especially in Europe, calling the acquisition of the Frenchman an “exciting signing”, despite the big price.

“He was at the Olympics with France, which shows that they know his ability,” Wenham said.

“Last season he played 33 times in the Premier League, so he still has that experience behind him. I think he will get a lot of opportunities at Tottenham, especially in the UEFA Europa League.

“Exciting signing. However, I think his money was expensive, maybe too little. I consider myself a football fan and I don't remember him playing against Burnley last season.

“However, I trust the scouting team at Tottenham. Our signings over the last 18 months have been good, so I expect this to be very similar.”
