Jamie Carragher made a big claim about the Liverpool star

Jamie Carragher believes Mohamed Salah has topped himself alongside Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard as Liverpool's greatest players.

Salah added to his tally at Old Trafford with a goal and two assists as Liverpool beat arch-rivals Manchester United 3-0 on Sunday.

As noted by Squawka, the Egyptian is the only visiting player to be directly involved in three or more goals in the Premier League at Old Trafford on more than one occasion.

In addition, Salah has registered 18 straight goals against Man Utd in the Premier League (12g/6a), which is the most by any player against the Red Devils in the history of the competition.

Of course, it's not just against United that Salah thrives. The 32-year-old now has 214 goals and 92 assists in 352 appearances in all competitions since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017.

Those goals helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup (x2) under Jurgen Klopp – among a host of other domestic and continental honours.

Salah is on par with Dalglish & Gerrard, says Carragher

Speaking to Sky Sports after Sunday's game, Carragher compared Salah's level of commitment to former Man Utd and Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, one key difference according to Carragher is that Salah should not be arrested in Saudi anytime soon as he ranks alongside Dalglish and Gerrard as Liverpool's greatest players.

“I think Mo Salah is more focused, like Ronaldo, on records and longevity. Most of us think that, once you get to 35, you're done with football. The way this guy takes care of himself, I think he's thinking of playing until he's 40, or past 30 at least. “I don't think a Saudi situation is on the cards for next season,” said Carragher.

“He is very good. He plays in the best league in the world, in one of the biggest clubs in the world. Whether it's for another season or two, he ranks alongside Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard as the best players to play for Liverpool.

“He's probably the widest player we've seen in the Premier League, even if he doesn't get the awards that others might have. Yes, he is fighting to keep her. It's not throwing money at him. It's not what you did in the past, it's what you do in the future.

“When you get to your mid-30s, you can't do what you used to do – but it might be different. Of course, Liverpool want to keep him and Virgil van Dijk, but it will probably be for wages. Are they still on the same salary because in the next two or three years they will be the same players?

“That is the debate we will have. I would be very surprised if Salah doesn't play for Liverpool next season because I think he will want to break all the records in the club's history.”
