Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Scotland will build a new energy-efficient clubhouse to open in 2025.

The current clubhouse, built in 1908, has been extended and renovated several times over the years but in an effort to continue to provide its 2,400 members with quality facilities, a new sustainable multi-purpose facility was built adjacent to the original. tee.

The new 2,100 square meter building will feature 136 solar roof panels and include a battery energy storage system to capture and store energy, which can be reused within the business.

The space itself will increase by 50 per cent and include new facilities for members, such as a bar and restaurant, changing rooms, a car park and an office.

Construction of the new clubhouse is already underway

Construction of the new clubhouse continues with a completion date set for June 2025, and an opening to members and guests in November 2025. Due to the larger space, the business expects to hire three full-time employees and increase the number seasonally. employees.

Neil Hampton, general manager at Royal Dornoch Golf Club, said: “Royal Dornoch is often named as one of the best golf courses in the world. As we will celebrate our 150th anniversary in 2027, it is time to ensure that our facilities are as world class as our Championship Course.

Royal Dornoch has recently been announced as the host venue for the 2028 Curtis Cup, where a team of top women's golfers from Great Britain and Ireland take on a team from the United States over three days of fours, foursomes and singles. .
