New Twist Emerges in Lakers' Reported Pursuit of Cedi Osman

It was recently reported that former LeBron teammate Cedi Osman turned down a training camp offer from the Lakers to join European team Panathinaikos, but the NBA veteran is calling the shots.

Eurohoops' Nikola Miloradovic reported that Osman declined the Lakers' invitation to join training camp “due to a lack of credentials.”

However, Marc Stein has disputed this report.

“It was reported in Europe that Turkish forward Cedi Osman turned down an invitation to the Lakers' training camp before signing with Greece's Panathinaikos, but sources close to the situation told The Stein Line that no such offer has been extended by LA despite LeBron James” Osman's known love dating back to their days as teammates. of the Cavaliers,” Stein wrote in his post.

Stein also reported that Osman's contract with the Greek powerhouse team is for one year and he could choose to rejoin the NBA team if he receives an offer he would like to take.

The Lakers have already reached the 15-man roster limit, as D'Angelo Russell, Christian Wood, Cam Reddish and Jaxon Hayes have all opted out.

Therefore, the franchise would have to make a merger trade to free up a roster spot to accommodate Osman anyway.

Osman spent the past six seasons with the Cavaliers coming off the bench and played with LeBron for one season there in 2017-18.

Just last season, Osman played for the Spurs, although his production there dipped after he averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in 72 contests – his lowest since his first year.
