Scotty Cameron limited Xperimental Golo 6.2 putter
Scotty Cameron
Weekend golfers always want what they can't have. Thankfully, craftsman Scotty Cameron takes comments and feedback into consideration when creating this limited edition offering. Think of it as a putter wish list. The latest Experimental Golo 6.2 it has several travel-only features that cannot be found in the current sales line.
Let's start with the most obvious addition: the Chromatic Bronze finish recently found on several Tour putters, including the 009M designed for Rory McIlroy. The distinctive color found in the 303 stainless steel head is achieved through a proprietary manufacturing process that alters the finish and reduces glare at address.
The topline of the putter is hand misted and the face is hand sanded before use. The off-white and asphalt accents are designed to give the putter a true Tour feel, which is usually reserved for wands priced in the four digits and above.
Unlike the retail Super Select Golo 6 that features a mid-bend shaft, Cameron opted for an I-style plumber's neck to allow the head to rotate like a blade during the stroke.
“The Golo 6 putter head size has been around for a few years now,” says master putter Scotty Cameron. “And as more tour pros are adopting this compact mallet shape, we're entering the prototype phase of trying out different neck configurations and finishes based on player feedback. The Xperimental Golo 6.2 Ltd is just that: a new design that adds a standard pipe neck, our very popular but rare Chromatic Bronze finish, and chain-link face milling.
New chain-link face milling technology combines the soft feel of a deep-milled putter with the consistency and response of Cameron's mid-range offering. The chain-link pattern is designed specifically for the Xperimental Golo 6.2 and matches the design found on the side panels of the custom, full-contact paddle-style grip.
Two custom made stainless steel weights (10, 15 and 20 grams) can also be adjusted to match the length of the putter (33, 34 and 35 inches).
“With the Xperimental Golo 6.2 Ltd putter, we offer a new configuration based on the popular Super Select Golo 6 models,” said Austie Rollinson, senior director of putter R&D for Scotty Cameron. “We get requests from tour players for different setups based on the size of the Golo 6 head, and after testing the neck piping on this round, compact mallet, we found that players really like the general view from address to help with setup and alignment, as well as the feel of the reliable neck design. A great putter built to play at the highest levels of our game.”
The limited edition Xperimental Golo 6.2 putter is available on 9/27 and retails for $800.
