Popert takes third consecutive G4D Tour @ BMW PGA Championship title – Golf News

Kent's Kipp Popert won his third straight G4D Tour @ BMW PGA Championship title with a stunning four-shot victory at Wentworth on Tuesday.

Popert entered the second round tied for the top spot with Ireland's Brendan Lawlor, but he showed exactly why he is the world's top-ranked golfer with a handicap of 69 to give him a six-under par.

The pair could not be separated as they both turned 35 on the West Course but Popert made a hat-trick of birdies from the 14th to recover and win his third G4D Tour title of the season.

He also won the G4D Tour Nations Cup @ Betfred British Masters alongside Heather Gilks and now has 12 G4D Tour wins to his name.

England's Mike Browne and Australia's Lachlan Wood, both winners this season, finished tied for third at four over.

Popert said: “That was amazing. I felt a lot of pressure this week, because I wanted to win three in a row, and I wanted to shoot good scores.

“Brendan and I had a great battle today and yesterday – I love competing with him. Today went my way, and there will be times in my career when it just won't happen and he or someone else will get the win.

“Winning this event three times is something I am proud to have achieved. I work hard, so I'm happy.”
