The Five-Time Lakers Champion Makes an Interesting WWE Comparison

The NBA is not what it used to be and former Lakers champion Derek Fisher pointed out the big difference when comparing the league to the WWE.

He thinks the game has changed and is more focused on entertaining the fans than real hard competition, as he explains in this WWE comparison.

“When I got into a lot [being] basketball fan when I watch the NBA today, I sometimes compare it to it [when] “WWE was WWF, World Wrestling Federation, then it changed to World Wrestling Entertainment,” said Fisher. Fast Break by Byron Scott a podcast. “Also, it's not right or wrong because one could argue that WWE is a more influential sport than WWF, depending on which side of the conversation you're on. I feel like all pro sports, to some degree, not just in the NBA- even in the NFL, you listen to guys who have played before and coached before. It's a different game, and that's not a bad thing. It's built more for entertainment value perhaps than competition value. “

“Generations ago, it was designed as a war, a war. Gladiator, so to speak, and it does not mean that the boys are now tough; soft. I'm not saying that. I know that's been said in other discussions, but that's not what I'm saying; it's a different way for them to come out and compete.”

In more ways than one, the NBA has become a wrestling league. Draymond Green is one of the players who confirm it.
