Inside issue #210 of AMB
Check out the latest Australian Mountain Bike Magazine #210 on shelves now!
On a personal note, as an editor, getting #210 out has been a priority, and I hope you enjoy the little escape as much as I do right now, since my time on the bike is limited and precious.
In this edition, we encourage you to grab a coffee and put your feet up as you enjoy the immersive experience of the 2024 AMB Photography Awards.
This year's entries were amazing, and featured new faces as well as those who have appeared in previous photo awards.
It would be remiss of me not to feature 2024 AMB Photographer of the Year and hero of the Victorian mountain biking scene, Matt Rousu. Matt put his heart and soul into his entry and it showed, you can read all about it and see his winning portfolio in his Photographer of the Year feature.
We move on to China where Martin Bissig and Tom Öhler ride the Great Wall of China, enjoy routes built based on hours of Whistler bike park YouTube viewing, and have fun with some urban jibs. The story is weird and wonderful (I mean this in the best possible way), and Bissig's photography is spellbinding.
We then head up to the Sunshine Coast to escape the cold southern winter for the Quad Crown Sunny 80, a three-day race weekend featuring some of the coast's best routes.
We also have a really useful article on what to choose from for cyclists insurance. Insurance is one of those things that can be overlooked as another expense, but if you're participating in an inherently 'risky' hobby (even if you're riding at your best!) it's definitely recommended. Margot Meade walks you through the different options available.
Finally, we check out a huge range of hot new bikes including the Specialized Stumpjumper 15, GasGas MXC5 and Trek Top Fuel. We're getting dirty on drop-bars with the new Campagnolo Ekar GT drivetrain, and testing SRAM's Eagle Powertrain, along with a whole host of product reviews.
Of course, we have our regular writers bringing you the latest news on fitness and nutrition, and how to improve your skills on the bike.
So what are you waiting for? Grab that coffee, put those feet up and dig in!
