In a recent interview with Dirk Schlickmann of Sport Bild, O'Neal expressed his concerns about the evolution of the world of international basketball.

O'Neal reflected on the recent World Cup, saying that he was not surprised by Germany's victory over the USA in the semi-finals when they were on their way to gold.

He mentioned that although the USA was once ahead of other countries in basketball, that advantage has decreased over the years.
