Sharks rookie Macklin Celebrini exits preseason game with injury – Hockey Writers – San Jose Sharks

The San Jose Sharks announced on Tuesday (October 1) night that forward Macklin Celebrini has left the game due to an injury and would not be returning to the game. Celebrini had entered the net trying to score a goal, fell to the left, and landed on the board. He was slow to get up and ended up leaving the game, worrying Sharks fans who were hoping to see the star of tomorrow.

The incident happened during the second half of the game between the Sharks and the Utah Hockey Club. He played another shift, lasting one minute and 43 seconds before heading to the locker room. He did not return in the third period, playing only 10 minutes, 54 seconds, and making two shots before being ejected from the game.

Celebrini was drafted first overall by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft after a strong season in the NCAA with Boston University. He scored 32 goals and added 32 assists for 64 points in 38 games for an average of 1.68 points per game, putting himself on the map and cementing himself as the best prospect available.

Last season, he played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Chicago Steel where he scored 46 goals and added 40 assists for 86 points in 50 games for an average of 1.72 points per game. His attack combined with his strong two-way game makes him an exciting prospect, so hopefully the injury is minimal and he can return quickly.
