This golf bag is packed with innovation — and utility! – technology

I recently checked out the MNML MR1 golf bag and came away impressed with the number of cool tech features it has.

With respect

Welcome to “I tried,” the GOLF.com series where we write about golf gear — clothing, gear, equipment, etc. — which we just took out to throw away. I'm not a person who often goes around machines. When I find something I like, I tend to stick with it. Lately though, I've been in the market for a new golf bag.

As luck would have it, I recently had the opportunity to try out one of the coolest new bags on the market, courtesy of MNML Golf.

MNML's latest bag – the 2024 MR1 Golf Bag – is the best quality golf bag I have ever used. From the moment I pulled it out I was drawn to the modern look. But beyond style, this bag is full of technical features.

The bag comes with a built-in portable solar charger, as well as a side-hung speaker, perfect for the golfer who enjoys some tunes on the course. Zips are also a thing of the past with this bag as all pockets are magnetically closed to ensure your items stay put but also make it easy to access all round. Adding to the sleek sleek aesthetic is that the bag only comes in black or white, living up to its limited edition brand name.

It's safe to say the bag passed the eye test, and continued to impress when I took it out on a few test runs.

As someone who prefers to travel, the five-and-a-half-pound weight of the bag was not too heavy to lug around the course. And with a single and double-strap option, it makes more customization options. I also found good use for the heated side pocket, which doubles as a built-in cooler – perfect for keeping my water (or the adults' drinks) cold throughout the cycle.

The top comes with a five-pocket design for easy club organization and with nine side pockets, you won't lack storage for everything you need on the course. The bag is also made from 100 percent recycled materials, perfect for the crossover between conservationists and golfers.

Like previous MNML models, the MR1 features a phone holder on the side of the bag. This may not seem like much at first, but it's great for taking videos of yourself swinging if you don't have an extra set of hands.

Overall, this bag is a winner for the golfer on the go. As someone who plays a lot of rounds in New York City, having a bag full of technology is a game changer. After having a portable charger a few weeks ago, I don't think I'll be able to live without being able to charge my devices on the go.

At just under $350, the bag is an investment, but one you'll be glad you made after the first round.
