Golf Business News – Grounds management industry prepares for SALTEX '24

With one week to go before the start of SALTEX 2024, the premier event for field management professionals and volunteers, organizers have revealed more details of what delegates can expect to find at the show.

The Industry's Largest Free Learning Event

One of the key features of SALTEX 2024, which is being held at the NEC in Birmingham from October 30-31, is the LIVE learning programme, the largest free education event in the domain management industry. With more than 50 speakers, including industry experts, technology experts and thought leaders, visitors will have access to in-depth knowledge and real-world solutions.

The sessions span three stages: the Main Stage, hosted by Focus Focus presenter Mark Clemmit, and a regular voice on BBC Radio 5 Live. The Spotlight Stage and Community Sports Stage each offer a unique focus to meet different sectors of the industry.

Key sessions include 'UEFA Pitch Quality support systems: A data-driven approach' on the main stage with Lee Guerriero, UEFA Stadium Operations and Pitch Expert, 'Improving turfgrass defence' with John Dempsey PhD BSc (Hons) in Spotlight Stage and 'Drainage. – get it right the first time' with Richard Earl, Managing Director – TGMS, at the Community Sports Stage.

It's also a great opportunity to gain BASIS and BIGGA accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, keeping professionals up-to-date with their qualifications while expanding their industry knowledge.

Communication and Cooperation in the Clubhouse

For the year 2024, SALTEX has reimagined the Clubhouse, creating a more inviting and interactive environment designed to enhance industry communication and the sharing of ideas. The new look Clubhouse features a refreshed bar area and welcoming feel. It's a great place to relax and connect with your coworkers.

The Clubhouse will also host scheduled meetings for groups including County FAs, GMA NextGen, Soil Science Clinic and more, making it easy for groups to meet and discuss important industry topics.

A Bigger and Better Community Sports Facility

Building on the success of its 2023 debut, the Community Sports Zone is expanding to offer grassroots clubs and community sports facilities. This year, the venue has more space, more equipment and a dedicated live learning stage to deliver targeted sessions aimed at community sports clubs and volunteers such as 'What's Achieving More Sports Venue Funding?' and 'Quality Factors in Shoe Manufacturing Budget'.

In addition to the educational offerings, the extended equipment exhibitions will include leading manufacturers such as ISEKI, Dennis and SISIS, Campey Turf Care Systems and Trimax Mowing Systems – to show equipment designed for the specific needs of the public and grassroots sports clubs.

An exclusive new product launch

Visitors will be among the first to see the launch of more than 30 exclusive products from top manufacturers. This presentation will highlight the most advanced equipment and services in the field of grounds management, providing visitors with the best tools to improve their performance.

Kingdom Technologies will present its new robotic lawnmower on stand H050, designed to provide a highly efficient solution for large-scale, commercial mowing.

Major Equipment Ltd, the leading innovator in the professional tractor-powered water mower, is all set to introduce their improved TDR Rotary Mower. You can find this special launch at stand J112.

Stand G075 will host Kersten's new Zasso ZAP Weeder, the world's first battery powered electric device.

KAR UK is delighted to unveil Hunter Industries' new Wireless Valve Link on stand E053. This state-of-the-art system is set to revolutionize irrigation management, offering unparalleled flexibility and efficiency for properties of all sizes.

Turf Technology Development

Visitors will be introduced to the latest and most innovative technologies that are set to transform the industry. State-of-the-art solutions offer new ways to improve grounds management that are efficient, sustainable and cost-effective.

GMA's NextGen team will once again play a prominent role at SALTEX 2024, offering a new perspective on the future of the industry. NextGen, sponsored by Reesink Turfcare, is a dynamic group of young professionals dedicated to showcasing exciting career opportunities within the field of grounds management. Visitors can meet members of NextGen at the GMA Hub (C190) on all days of the show. They will be available to provide practical advice to those just starting their careers or looking to advance in the industry.

Members of NextGen, including Meg Lay, Groundsperson at Lord's Cricket Ground, and Jack Langley, Deputy Head of Grounds at Ashton Gate Stadium, will also take part in a Learning LIVE session discussing how to attract young talent to the industry. The session will highlight the wide range of opportunities available in field management and provide practical tips for recruiting and retaining the next generation of talent.

Experience the Racing Simulator and the new Demo Zone

For visitors looking for some fun amidst the business of stadium management, SALTEX has an exciting new attraction – a racing simulator experience at the Reesink and TORO stand (K072). Meet your friends and colleagues in high-octane head-to-head racing, guided by expert driving tips from professional coaches. Compete for the top spot on the leaderboard and see if you have what it takes to leave everyone else in the dust. The simulator provides a fun break from the show floor and adds a fun, competitive edge.

In the new Demo Zone, visitors can take part in Kress' 'Blower Game' (Stop DZ4) for the chance to win Kress products worth around £3,000! The contestant with the fastest time on the leaderboard by 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 31st, will claim the grand prize when the show ends. And in the Demo Zone, you'll find live demonstrations from STIHL (Stand DZ1), Cramer (DZ2), and the West Midlands Lawn Mower Racing Association (DZ3).
