AHL joins NHL, NHLPA in celebration of Hockey Fights Cancer | TheAHL.com

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League is also proud to join the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association on their behalf. Hockey Fights Cancer™ is powered by the V Foundation presented by AstraZeneca the month of celebration, which begins today.

The campaign, which has brought together the hockey community to support people with cancer and their families since 1998, will feature special events, celebrations and stories from people close to the hockey community. This year, 20 AHL member clubs designated a home game as Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night with the opportunity to wear lavender jerseys, dashboards, stick tape, helmets and “I Fight For” cards. AHL and its teams also support various local cancer hospitals, clinics and advocacy groups.

Fans can participate by sharing their stories using the official hashtag #HockeyFightsCancer or donate online at HockeyFightsCancer.com. Additionally, donations collected will continue to support the American Cancer Society and Canadian Cancer Society Lodges in the US and Canada, helping hundreds of cancer patients and their families every day with accommodation, food, transportation, activities and emotional support.
