Canucks Place Nils Aman On Waivers – Hockey Writers – Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks announced Saturday morning that they have placed forward Nils Aman with the intention of assigning him to the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Swede, 24, has played four games this season, recording two assists. He split last season between the NHL and AHL, scoring eight goals and 15 points in 15 games in Abbotsford and three goals and seven points in 43 games in Vancouver.
Arshdeep Bains, who doesn't need to be dropped, is still in the team, which makes it interesting that Aman was sent down and not him. There is a good chance that he will be wanted, perhaps by the team that drafted him in the sixth round in 2020, the Colorado Avalanche that were destroyed. He's a solid fourth-line center and penalty killer, someone most coaches could use in their bottom six.
This action may mean that Dakota Joshua is about to return to the list. He has made steady progress over the past few weeks and recently participated in his first full training session with the team. On November 1, at his media availability, head coach Rick Tocchet indicated his status as day-to-day. With this latest move, it looks like Joshua could be on his way to playing his first game of the season – possibly as soon as this three-game trip to California. He will be a welcome mentor to a team that struggled early in the season, going 4-2-3 in October.
