Golf Business News – Sustainable Golf Week celebrates golf's contributions to communities

Last week's Golf Week explored how golf can stand up for its service and support to communities, as well as its important efforts to promote the environment and take climate action – addressing a fundamental pillar of sustainability – social equity.

Promoted annually by the GEO Sustainable Golf Foundation, this year's week aims to help raise awareness; celebrate success; and inspire people and organizations across golf to push it forward.

Alan Grant, Director of Partnership Foundations, said: “It's been great to help uncover and share some of the great initiatives and projects from so many different parts of golf and so many local and national areas. Thank you and congratulations to all who participated. Of course, every week is a stable golf week, so we'd like to see continued sharing of ties and real-world examples.

“The Sustainable Golf Highlights Hub is an easy place to start adding your stories to the growing community, and you can find other ways to get involved and access support at sustainable.golf, where some of SGW's content is pulled from. together.”

Notable results throughout the week came from the novice and expert game, as well as other sub-sectors such as tourism and the manufacturing and supply side. Key idea components were also produced by the Foundation.

Donations are shared and developed by a number of international and national golf organizations including, but not limited to: DP World Tour; Ladies European Tour; The PGA Tour; R&A; European Golf Association; European Institute of Golf Course Architects; Confederation of Professional Golf; Asia Pacific Golf Confederation; New Zealand Golf; Swiss golf; Canadian Golf Course Owners and Managers Association; and national organizations in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.

Toro, Syngenta, Galvin Green, EZ-GO, Women & Golf, Faldo Design, International Golf Travel Market and Reed Exhibitions were among the companies that provided content and support throughout the week.

An ever-growing list of golf industry media outlets have shown their support and play a vital role in helping spread the word, including: Golf Business News; Golf Course Architecture; Boardroom Magazine; Golf Club Managers Association Magazine; Golf Course Industry; The Scotsman; Asian Golf Industry Federation; Irish Golfer Magazine; Golf Business Technology; Golf Business Monitor; Golf Sustainability podcast and Syngenta's Growing Golf podcast; Today's Golfer; Golf Sales, and many local language books in countries and regions from Switzerland to Quebec.

Finally, as is the case with most of what is done around sustainable golf, grass roots facilities are at the heart and many, many clubs release content and involve their golfers – 9-hole courses to 5-star resorts.

Jonathan Smith, Executive Director of the GEO Sustainable Golf Foundation, commented: “Looking ahead to the year ahead, we are thinking about how golf's key themes of creation, climate and communities are coming together to show the greatest positive impact of golf on people as well. the planet. The power of good driving in villages, towns and cities around the world. In a growing world driven by sustainability, it is important that golf sends out a message that it cares and gives back.”
