Igor Shesterkin Signs New Extension With Rangers
After the New York Rangers traded Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks, the organization signed franchise goaltender Igor Shesterkin to an eight-year, $92 million extension.

Igor Shesterkin's salary reached $11.5 million, making him the highest paid goaltender in NHL history, surpassing Carey Price's $10.5 million.

The guards used Trouba's salary to pay Shesterkin the money he wanted. The Rangers and GM Chris Drury knew they had to pay Shesterkin whatever he wanted, given the team's performance before him. They relied heavily on him to win games especially in the playoffs.

Shesterkin was eligible to sign an extension as of July 1, as he was in the final year of a four-year, $22.67 million contract with an AAV of $5.67 million. Earlier in the season, he declined an eight-year extension with an AAV of $11 million.

While in New York, Shesterkin took the Rangers to the Eastern Conference Finals twice, won the Vezina Trophy and was named the League MVP Hart Trophy.
Shesterkin has a 2.48 goals against average and a .920 save percentage for his career. This season for the Rangers, he has an 8-9-1 record with a 3.05 GAA and a .908 save percentage.
