Blackhawks Recall Frank Nazar, Hoping To Boost Offense – Hockey Writers – Blackhawks Transactions
The Chicago Blackhawks recalled forward Frank Nazar from the Rockford IceHogs earlier today. The 13th overall pick of 2022 has 11 goals and 13 assists in 21 games so far in the American Hockey League (AHL) to lead all rookies in scoring.
To say that the anticipation and excitement surrounding Nazareth would be an understatement. Both are visible. Ever since the Blackhawks brought in Anders Sorensen as interim head coach, speculation has been rife as to when Nazar will get the call. When the Blackhawks placed forward Joey Anderson on waivers, it was inevitable.

The Blackhawks have been bitten when it comes to scoring this season, ranking third worst in the NHL. The hope is that Nazar can revive the offense that has frustrated star Connor Bedard. Nazar scored a goal in his NHL debut on April 14, 2024 after being named to the roster at the end of last season.
Of course, Nazar will be familiar with Sorensen who trained him in the AHL before being promoted to his position. They will be regrouped and will hopefully rely on Sorensen's 20-year-old experience.

General manager Kyle Davidson emphasized that Nazar earned this, saying, “Frank played very well. He has been a bright person for us and his performance has been a pleasure.”
Not only has Nazar dominated the AHL, but he also seems to have a good head on his shoulders that has made his transition to professional hockey smooth. After not leaving the Blackhawks in training camp, Nazar said, “Obviously he didn't have the best season, so I understand that perspective. I'm going to keep doing me, focus on me, not worry about anything,” (from 'Blackhawks recall Frank Nazar, center prospect and 2022 first rounder, from AHL,' AthleticDecember 13, 2024).
Clearly, that attitude paid off.
Ben Pope, Blackhawks reporter The Chicago Sun-Timesreported that Nazar put the second line today in practice with Taylor Hall and Tyler Bertuzzi. He will make his season debut tomorrow (Dec. 14) against the New Jersey Devils.
