Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United wanted players Benjamin Sesko has signed a new five-year contract at RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old had a fantastic debut season with Leipzig where he scored 18 goals in 42 games and quickly appeared on the radar of Europe's top clubs.

However, it was reported on Tuesday that he will reject these offers and commit to the Bundesliga club with a new contract.

On Wednesday morning, Leipzig announced that Sesko has signed a new contract that will last until 2029.

Sesko told the Leipzig club's channels: “I had a good first year at RB Leipzig and I'm very happy to be here. The team, the club, the city, the fans – the whole package is outstanding for me. So the first contract extension was the logical next step.

“Although I did not play or score many goals in the first half of the season, this stage was very important for me and my growth. I feel trusted and appreciated in the team and that is important to be able to do my best. In the second half of the season especially, I was able to give something back with my goals.

“We have a team with great talent and a mixture of young and experienced players. I am looking forward to taking the next steps with this team. We have achieved a lot in my first season and we have often shown the level and quality of football we can bring to the field but there is still a lot to do and that is our common goal.”

90 min He revealed on Tuesday that the three most important factors in Sesko's decision to stay in Leipzig were that he was settled at the club, the money they offered him was competitive and he wanted his future to be settled before Slovenia's Euro 2024 campaign.

However, Sesko has a gentleman's agreement with Leipzig to leave in the summer of 2025.
