Ellerbe Predicts Spectacular KO For Tank Davis, Dismisses Frank Martin As Insignificant

Promoter Leonard Ellerbe predicts a knockout victory for Gervonta 'Tank' Davis against Frank Martin. Ellerbe says that Martin (18-0, 12 KOs) is fighting a guy who is way above his level, and he'll fall apart when he takes on Tank (29-0, 27 KOs).

Ellerbe acted when he was reminded that Martin's promoter, Errol Spence, said that Tank Davis had never met anyone like his boxer and that they would be separated on Saturday.

Different leagues: Tank Domination Assured

That's not how Ellerbe sees it. Martin sure isn't in the same league as Tank, and the world will see that on Saturday night. Ellerbe feels that Martin is a good fighter, but he is not where Tank Davis is right now.

Tank will defend his WBA 'regular' title against Martin on PBC on Prime Video Pay-Per-View at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“Errol said something to the side, 'The tank wasn't there.' We don't know that,” said promoter Leonard Ellerbe on Sean Zittel's YouTube channel about Errol Spence, Frank Martin's promoter, and said that Tank Davis has never met a star like Frank.

“Frank Martin has never seen anyone like Tank Davis. They hit four laps, I heard,” said Ellerbe about Tank and Martin's split. “We don't know if he just got off the plane or what he did the day before. I guarantee this guy was in shape.”

Martin had the better boxer than Tank in his last fight, when he defeated Artem Harutyunyan in July of last year. That guy in the world is better than Tank Davis in the skills department. What Tank does have, obviously, is strength, and that makes him unique.

“What are you going to do in four rounds? I heard that there is a lot of fighting. I don't get caught up in all that because I know when Saturday comes the lights are on, my boy [Gervonta] it will be ready,” said Ellerbe.

Outboxing Tank?

“He will not stay there. He's going to do a lot,” Ellerbe said of Martin. “He can't get Tank out. What will you do? Tank can do whatever he wants to do.”

Martin can take out the Tank and build an early lead in this battle. What is unclear is whether Martin will be able to hold on in the second half of the tournament if Tank comes to pressure him with his powerful shots.

“Martin is really good. It's just that there are different levels and layers of how good you are,” said Ellerbe. “I have a good idea what he will do, that's why I predict that the fight will end with a knockout.”

If Tank doesn't win this fight, he could be in trouble because Martin can pierce, and he has a great engine. He will push a fast pace, which will wear the Tank down and give him problems on the ground.

We've seen Martin do that against Harutyunyan and Michel Rivera in his last two fights, and he's looked dominant in both contests.

“The card will be electrifying from top to bottom,” said Ellerbe.
