Arsenal made an offer despite Raya's deal

Arsenal are reportedly interested in a move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin this summer, despite only bringing in David Raya last year.

Lunin has not been guaranteed playing time at the Bernabeu despite his good form last season, and has now been linked with a move away from Real Madrid, with a report from COPE citing Arsenal as one of the clubs that have made an offer for him.

This happened despite the journalist Fabrizio Romano also reporting today, via a post on his official account on X, that the Gunners are completing the documents to make Raya's money transfer from Brentford permanent …

If Raya stays, it seems very surprising that Arsenal could even be considering signing Lunin, unless Mikel Arteta really intends to shake things up in goal for the second summer in a row.

Raya's arrival last summer was a bit of a surprise as Aaron Ramsdale was performing well as the team's number one, although there is no doubt now that the Spanish stopper looks like an improvement.

Lunin seems unwilling to leave the Real Madrid bench to warm the bench at Arsenal, so we will have to see how much truth there is in this story, which may become clearer in the coming days.

Andriy Lunin to Arsenal?

There will certainly be other clubs out there who were impressed by Lunin's performance when he filled in for the injured Thibaut Courtois last season, but AFC will not be looking to sign another player, like Ramsdale, who wants to play regular first-team football.

Arsenal have problems in attack and perhaps in midfield, so one imagines those will be the areas we see them prioritize this summer, although a new keeper on the cheap might make sense if Ramsdale ends up leaving, which is likely.
