The 2024 US Open returns this week for the fourth time at Pinehurst No. 2.

Martin Kaymer won the last major title at the 2014 US Open, but if you're not familiar with the vast 11-course area often referred to as the “Cradle of American Golf,” or you're just not a geography expert, you might be wondering “Where is Pinehurst?” Don't worry, we've got you covered.

Where is Pinehurst Resort?

Pinehurst Resort is located in the Town of Pinehurst, within the sand hills of North Carolina. The closest major city is Fayetteville, NC, but the resort is also within an hour and a half drive of Raleigh and Greensboro while it's just over two hours to Charlotte.

This week, the world's best will play the area's No. 2 golf course, which was the second course on the site.

The town itself is a golf course. In addition to the resort's 10 18-hole golf courses and Cradle par-3 courses, the region also boasts Tobacco Road, Mid Pines, Southern Pines, Pine Needles and the Country Club of North Carolina, all within the top 20 GOLF courses in the North. Carolina.

Course number 2 isn't even the only GOLF Top 100 course in the US at this location. In addition to the 1907 Donald Ross layout the USGA will use for this week's US Open, the 4 course is re-entered the US GOLF Top 100 rankings after an extensive 2018 redesign by Gil Hanse.
